COVID-19 Updates

Littleton ESD COVID-19 Plan and Messages

Please take a few minutes to read the information below regarding the 2023–2024 school year.

LESD COVID-19 Dashboard

The purpose of this data is to provide our Littleton Elementary School District families and staff with a transparent summary of COVID-19 cases. An active case indicates that a student or staff member participating in on-campus activities has tested positive for an active COVID-19 infection. We exclude individuals who test positive from participation in any in-person/on-campus activity until the individual meets the return criteria set by state and local health authorities.

The communication regarding positive, or potentially positive, COVID-19 tests falls within the FERPA/HIPAA guidelines and we must protect the privacy rights of students and staff. When a positive case is reported to any LESD school we must report it to Maricopa County Health Department, first. After Maricopa County has investigated and confirmed the positive case the school will communicate in the following ways:

  1. The school will notify every person that has been identified to have been in “close contact” with the positive individual. Close contact is defined as, “being within six feet of a person with COVID-19 for a cumulative total of fifteen minutes or more over a 24-hour period or had physical contact with a person with COVID-19.” Any student deemed to have been in close contact with the positive individual is required to stay home for 14 days from the exposure date. Only students determined to have had close contact will need to be quarantined.
  2. After we have notified all persons who have been in close contact, we report the case here on the LESD COVID-19 Dashboard.

Parents/Caregivers,

If you have questions about an exposure notification you received from your child’s school and need further clarification of the guidelines we are following for COVID-19, please see Maricopa County Department of Public Health’s FAQs. You can also speak to someone directly at MCPH by calling the COVID-19 Parent Hotline. Dial 2-1-1, then press Option 6 for COVID-19, and then Option 3 to connect to a hotline staff member. You also can submit your questions through MCDPH Contact Us web form.
