Littleton ESD Preschools

Our preschools are designed to support the needs of preschool children with disabilities. As part of our inclusive approach to learning, we offer the opportunity for typically developing preschoolers to participate as well! Our teachers and staff provide quality, developmentally appropriate early learning experiences for all children.

Peer Model

We have designed our preschools to support the needs of preschool children with disabilities, and as part of our inclusive approach to learning, we offer the opportunity for typically developing preschoolers to participate as well! Our teachers and staff provide quality, developmentally-appropriate, early-learning experiences for all children.

Littleton offers two preschool programs for peer models. Our preschool partners program is a three-hour program for children three years of age as of September 1 of each school year. Our preschool explorers is a six-hour program available to children four years of age as of September 1 of each school year and who will be attending kindergarten the following school year. For us to consider a child as a peer model for our preschool program, your child must meet the age requirements for our partners or explorers programs, be fully toilet trained, and have appropriate communication and social skills. If you would like our district to consider your child for a peer model in our partners (three-hour program) or explorers (six-hour program), there are two ways to apply. We offer monthly tuition and scholarship opportunities for your child. There are scholarships available through First Things First (partners program) and Preschool Development Grant (explorers program) scholarship programs. Please be aware that financial qualification guidelines do apply.

Applications for peer models (tuition-paying or scholarship) are available in the Exceptional Student Services Department at the district office. Please note that peer model preschool spots are very limited, and each year we have more applications than available spots for children. If your child does not get a spot for the upcoming school year, we will place his or her name on the wait list. If a spot becomes available throughout the year, we will contact you.

If your child is currently a peer model, you must re-apply each year that your child is still age-eligible for preschool. Participation in the current school year does not guarantee a spot for the upcoming school year.

If you have questions about the preschool peer model application process or if you have concerns about your preschooler’s development and are interested in participating in a screening for a suspected disability, please contact Francine Licurgo at (623) 478.5682 or Cleofe Reyes at (623) 478.5674.
